7 Fool-proof hangover cure

The best night of your life can cost you the worst morning ever. Hangover is definitely the price you have to pay in return for that fantastic night of knocking down shots and dancing yourself silly. Like everyone else, you’d want to get rid of that hangover ASAP. So here are seven fool-proof ways of getting rid of your hangover.

1.   Drink lots of water

Alcohol tends to dehydrate you. Judging by the number of times you had to rush to the bathroom during your night out, your body needs lots and lots of water to recuperate from what it has lost. If you feel like you can still stand up on your own, try drinking at least 16 ounces of water before going to bed. Or better yet, alternate water with whatever drink you are having that night to easily replace the fluids in your system. If you failed to do so on the night of your debauchery, you can always refresh your water supply in the morning.

2.   Coffee

You’ve guessed it. The very drink you have just to get us out of bed on a work day, is the same drink you need to wake your spirits up after a night of absolute fun. Get yourself a large cup of joe to make you more alert and energized for the day.

We’re totally kidding about the getting 18 cups… or not. Kidding!

3.   Exercise

The last thing you want to do when you’re having a bad hangover is to move, but trust us, sweating off all those alcohol out of your system really does work well in getting rid of that hangover. Plus, it helps you stay fit or lose weight. That’s like hitting three birds in one stone!

4.   Skip the bloody Mary aka hair of the dog

Although your instincts might tell you to chug down a pitcher of bloody Mary, fighting a hangover through alcohol could not do anything good for your body. In fact, the way you feel better after a few sips of the cocktail is probably just a placebo effect. Drinking more alcohol in the morning could increase the risk of abuse and alcohol dependency. Instead, water or a cup of coffee could do the trick.

5.   Carb the F up!

When you consume alcohol, your liver becomes busy with metabolizing the alcohol in your body and fails to handle the extra work. And because you might have actually threw up almost everything you have consumed the day before, your blood sugar level might be on the low. Usually, the liver produces glucose for your body when blood sugar is low, but the amount of alcohol you’ve taken isn’t helping your liver much, in fact, it even makes your mood worse.  Give your liver a little help by ingesting a few carbs here and there.  So if you feel like murdering everyone in sight, a piece of toast could just do the trick.

6.   Take a pill

When you feel like there’s nothing that could take that headache away, go get yourself a pill or two depending on your recommended dosage. However, make sure that your are taking non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs like ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin. Just make sure that you’ve already eaten something before swallowing that pill.

7.   Of course, drink moderately

Although these other things could help rid of your hangover, the best way not to get one is to drink in moderation. Let’s face it, there’s always going to be a next night out, so you don’t have to drink a month’s worth of alcohol. Nevertheless, enjoy the night. You deserve it!
